Hot August Nights August 11, 2010
It's great to have finished cataloging our Hot August Nights sale and get it out for everyone to enjoy. I would guess by now that many of you have been busy viewing the Melamed Collection of Minnesota National Bank Notes online. We hope to see as many of you as possible at our auction facility in Lenexa for the sale. Each time we have a sale here we offer a mini-bourse for dealers to setup, visit with customers, do their auction bidding and generally do a little business while enjoying our hospitality. Hopefully we will have a nice contingency of our northern neighbors join us for this event. Lot viewing will be Monday (Aug. 30) and Tuesday (Aug. 31), followed by the Minnesota National Bank Notes sale beginning at 4 pm (Aug. 31). There will be a dinner break and then Session 1 of the Hot August Nights auction will begin (Aug. 31). Session 2, World Bank Notes will be held on Wednesday, September 1. The sale will start at 10:30 AM, just to give Eric an extra half hour in the morning after Tuesday's late night.

We are already preparing for the 2010 PCDA sale, which is shaping up to be our best sale of the year. At Memphis we announced that we would be selling a substantial portion of Jess Lipka's Red Seal Collection, with up to 400 notes being offered. No, he's not quitting and he's not selling the #1 Red Seal collection that he cherishes so much, but he will be sharing great notes from all across America with other eager collectors. Virtually all states and denominations will be available. Don't miss your opportunity to consign, but please note that when the August sale is over, consignments will be closed for PCDA as well.

Joel tells me he has some amazing World material, and lots of it. He got a consignment last night with a 1927 1-Pound Palestine and 5-Pound Palestine, 1929, both in fresh, unmolested XF, which will make for a great start of a world sale. There are nearly 800 lots with excellent representation from around the globe.

We are currently planning our auctions for 2011. We will have the CPMX sale in March, Memphis in June and PCDA in October, as well as a sale or two in Kansas. We are expecting great things from the market in 2011, and whether you are a buyer or a seller, we are ready and willing to help with your collection.

Joel and I will be in Boston at the ANA show from Tuesday through Thursday where we will be taking consignments for the PCDA sale in October. You can contact me at 913.708.3012 and Joel at 414.350.6980.
