Anniversary Sale

Welcome to the ANNIVERSARY SALE, albeit a few months later than normal.
Each year we try to plan a time when dealers and collectors can join us in Lenexa for a few days of business, pleasure and charity. We were not sure how we were going to find the time to build a sale, but we all wanted to put one together, and looking at it now, I would say it’s a wonderful sale for collectors and dealers alike.
Joel finished first with 620 lots of World Paper Money that is just full of really neat notes that have never seen daylight before, and to me, above all are the South Australian trio and the ultra-rare Cuban note that we had to squeeze in.
The star of the large size is the Vista Collection of large size star notes which has well over 100 different examples, including many statistical rarities and types. The large size type that follows is certainly not a world’s finest collection, but a number of notes should fill holes in even the great collections.
The rest of the first session has a run of Proof Obsoletes from the old NASCA days, and a Colonial that has never been on the market. Some of the errors and small size are very special and deserve much consideration.
On Wednesday we have a great offering of scarce and rare National Bank Notes from all across America, but with special attention to Maine, Nebraska and, not to be left out, the impressive $100 First Charter from Cleveland. This note is absolutely a pick of mine for wonderful $100 First Charters, of which there are so few. Look over the states, any state, and you will find interesting notes of nice quality. Just what collectors want.
Please join us Monday, December 8th from 10 AM to 6 PMG and Tuesday, December 9th from 10 AM to 5 PM for our free bourse that always includes many of America’s premiere dealers in a casual setting that makes our hobby more enjoyable. Lowell Horwedel, Alex Perakis, Tim Kyzivat, Sergio Sanchez, John Markis (Trusted Traditions), Spectrum, John Rowe, Tom Denly, Heritage and others will be represented.
If you can be here Monday evening we will hold our 4th Annual Charity Hold-Em’ Poker Tournament where you can test your skills against past champions like Tom “The Fisherman” Denly, our first champion, John “The Texan” Rowe, our second champion and Mike “The Rookie” Moczalla, our third champion as they try to repeat and overcome the odds of the ever expanding field. At stake are the coveted LKCA World Champion bracelet and the rights to carry the trophy for the coming year. Last year we raised over $22,000 and provided over 111,000 meals to those who needed a hand. This year, times will require those of us more fortunate to dig deeper to help, and I promise we will. If you cannot attend the show, our two charities this year will be Operation Breakthrough and Harvester’s, two groups that stretch our gifts beyond my dreams, we will still be happy to accept donations to these worthy causes.

December Sale
|
October 28, 2008
|
|
|
As we finish writing the December sale, more great items walk in the door: one of them is certainly a Palestine 10 Pounds 1927 (#9a) original with strong color and only a trace of graffiti. We have only offered a few Palestine 10 Pounds, and never this key; in fact, 1927 is THE mostly keenly sought date for each denomination. The Palestine market has been quite strong for a while, and there is no indication it is letting up. Do not miss out on this opportunity.

Another Wichita Int'l Postcard Show

October 20, 2008

Another Wichita International Postcard Show is in the history books, and now we are gearing up for the Lyn Knight Fall Postcard and Paper Auction, with viewing beginning this morning (Monday Oct 20). Wichita was like 'old home week' with lots of reunions of friends and postcard family from all over the World. Hundreds of collectors and dealers came in from all over. Lots of buzz about postcards, shows and the auction. Our friend Hal Ottaway puts on this top rated postcard show. We've often heard "if you can only attend one show a year.....its got to be Wichita."
